The U.S. Bureau of Land Management will temporarily close the parking lot at Ruby Mountain April 1-30, 2017, to improve the parking area and fix some drainage issues that became apparent during the fall 2015 flash flood. BLM staff apologize for any inconvenience during these temporary improvements.
Addressing the drainage issues will require heavy equipment and will impact visitor access for the month-long period, but the parking lot will be ready for peak visitor season. For public safety, visitors will not be able to access or park in the current parking area trailhead adjacent to AHRA Ruby campground and Fourmile trails or hike up or down from the gulch that empties into this Browns Canyon National Monument access.
This temporary closure will result in improved parking for monument visitors, Fourmile trail users and handicapped drivers.
