Dear Editor:
Friends of Browns Canyon would like to thank the 170 people who attended the recent John Fielder slide show at Salida SteamPlant benefiting the permanent protection of Browns Canyon.
We would also like to thank the two artists, Joshua Been and Susan Mayfield, for displaying their art and donating 30 percent of gross sales to Friends of Browns Canyon.
John Fielder’s generous donation of an enlarged print of his photograph, Browns Canyon Sunrise, was auctioned off for $1,250. He donated all of this money to FOBC plus 30 percent of his book sales. Thousands of dollars were raised for Browns Canyon.
John is a passionate conservationist who has been working for decades to protect different areas of our state so future generations can enjoy it. His love for nature is seen in his photographs and felt through his presentation.
His photographs of the “Rivers of Colorado” were presented to show those in attendance that these areas are special and worth preserving. We are lucky to have him focusing some of his efforts on protecting Browns Canyon.
If you are interested in showing your support for Browns Canyon or would like to become more involved, please visit www.brownscanyon.org<http://www.brownscanyon.org/
Thanks again to all who helped make this a successful event.
